We are a sea tribe who paddle long boats in rough water conditions in the northwest of Spain.

Our playground is the chaotic frontier among the mighty Atlantic ocean and the ancient Galician coast, where it was said, in the ancient times, that the world ended and the maps showed terrifying creatures……

Rockgardens, ocean surfing, currents, cliffs, big swells, uninhabited islands, gale force storms………… Once you have been paddling between dragons, is not possible to paddle like a human again .

It is a one way trip.

From dragons to newts

Right, we know. It`s said that a narrow white water river is not a good place to play with the long boats but.....,

Why not...?

First: It`s funny and challenging. Dangerous, of course, but we have good judgement to evaluate the risks.

Second: We blindly belive that any activity you do with your boat will make you better and better paddler out there, in the wild ocean.

Opppssssss!!!., have I said you any activity?.  Maybe to say "any activity" to the crew could be bold........... look at that faces.......

Third: One more chance to test the Goltziana quality construction in demanding conditions.
THOD are evolving some Goltziana models so we like to test them in a big range of situations.

Fourth: To remain all the team highly motivated. Playfull actitudes and new challenges are a must.

So, THOD chose an easy stretch of the river of 7 kilometres length (class II and class III rapids) well-known in the province by the white water community and the dragons turned into newts for a day.

While Óscar and Xose drove to the "finish line" to leave there one of the cars, Berto and me carried the boats from the curb to the departure point in the bank.

Well, I have to confess that not only carried the kayaks.............

Xose realized in time, before launching, but not everybody was so lucky.....

The Óscar´s kayak, literally sunk full of stones.

So, Welcome to the jungle and don´t turn your back to anybody !!!

That day the flow was not high so most of the standing waves were not big enough to hold the newts.

Playing in the slalom camp.

To play in currents is a very good training for rockgardens paddling.

But you have to pay attention

In the river the current flows in one direcction; in the ocean at least in two: when the wave comes in and when the wave goes out.

Opposed forces wich you have to deal with.

Secret wave among friends..... They love them, I swear it under Neptune.

So beautifull riverweeds. Its movement with the current is hypnotic, like velvet snakes dancing sensually....

Óscar will continue emptying his kayak all the way. Seems that stones grow inside his boat, jejejeje.......

Streams are good places for feel how the hull behaves.

How the hydrodynamics laws work in the boat.

Hide and seek

Óscar always says: " If you dont swim at least on time by necessity in each session, it was not a good day", and      he keeps his word.

At the end of the morning, Xose told us in the tavern the great news of the month:
He is going to have a BABY !!!

So, as my grandmother said me:

"Make love, drink beer and catch waves are the best THe Ocean Dragons do"

Congrats Tania and Xose !!!!
